Uploading files in cPanel’s File Manager is a straightforward process. Follow these steps to log in to cPanel and upload your files.

Logging in to cPanel

1. Access the cPanel Login Page

  • Open your web browser and navigate to your cPanel login page. This URL is typically provided by your hosting provider and might look something like https://yourdomain.com/cpanel or https://cpanel.yourdomain.com.

2. Enter Your Login Credentials

  • On the cPanel login page, enter your username and password. These credentials are usually provided by your hosting provider when you set up your account.

  • Click the “Log in” button.

3. Access the cPanel Dashboard

  • After logging in successfully, you will be directed to the cPanel dashboard, where you can manage your hosting account.

Uploading Files Using File Manager

1. Open File Manager

  • In the cPanel dashboard, locate the “File Manager” icon under the “Files” section.

  • Click on “File Manager” to open it in a new tab or window.

2. Navigate to the Desired Directory

  • In the File Manager interface, use the folder structure on the left side to navigate to the directory where you want to upload your file.

  • Common directories include “public_html” for website files or other folders as needed.

3. Initiate the Upload Process

  • Click on the “Upload” button located in the top toolbar of the File Manager.

4. Select the File

  • You will be redirected to an upload screen. Click on the “Select File” button.

  • Browse your computer to locate the file you wish to upload, then select it and click “Open”.

5. Monitor the Upload Process

  • Once you select the file, the upload process will begin. You’ll see a progress bar indicating the status of the upload.

  • Wait until the upload is complete. Larger files might take a bit longer to upload.

6. Verify the Upload

  • After the upload is finished, you will see a confirmation message.

  • Navigate back to the directory where you uploaded the file to ensure it appears in the list of files.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

  • File Size Limit: If your file is too large, cPanel may reject the upload. Check your hosting plan’s file size limits and consider compressing the file if needed.

  • File Type Restrictions: Some file types might be restricted by your hosting provider. Ensure that the file type you’re uploading is allowed.

  • Permissions Issues: If you can’t upload files, make sure you have the necessary permissions for the directory you are uploading to. Contact your hosting provider if you need additional access.

  • Connection Issues: If the upload fails, verify your internet connection and try uploading the file again.
